Loosen V-belt pulleys and re-fix

In particular with the flail mulchers, but also with many other V - belt driven devices, shaft - hub connections with a "Taperlock - bushing" are increasingly used. The Taperlock socket (taper (English) = conical) or too Taper bush is a conical machine element for manufacturing frictional Shaft-hub-connections in mechanical engineering. This clamping element fixes a hub z. B. one pulley exactly centered axially on one shaft.

The main advantage over the shaft-hub connection with Adjusting spring and shaft nut (which years ago was the most common connection between V-belt pulley and shaft ... .. and anyone who had to replace or re-fix the V-belt pulley after a few years knows that often even with a sensible puller, enormous effort and even more "curses." and annoyance “this connection was difficult to loosen or the V-belt pulley was damaged by the puller) lies in the quick assembly, since the element no longer has to be provided with a bore and a groove, but can be installed immediately. It is more suitable for changes in the direction of rotation and is better centered

As many customers understandably do not necessarily know what to do with this mounting system, here is a simple guide to how to loosen and re-fix such Taperlock bushings:

In the picture above the text you can see the socket secured with Allen screws and free holes. Please loosen the Allen screws and unscrew them. Please note beforehand which holes were left free, because you screw the Allen screws back into these (after you have removed all screws) and tighten them. Please work in a circle…. You will notice that you can always retighten the screws a little and then there is a point where the socket loosens out towards the rear.

Now you can move the V-belt pulley freely on the shaft, pull it off or simply fix it again, using the opposite approach as described above.
