If you want to "lend a hand" yourself to change the V-belts on your Schlegelmulcher, then I can recommend the following procedure:

When you put on the new straps, please hold a long board or spirit level on both V-pulleys at the same time and check that both discs are fully against the board.

On the one hand, you can check whether the pulleys are exactly superimposed and, on the other, whether the upper pulley may be at an angle. This can happen if, for example, the gearbox with the drive shaft (at the end of which the V-belt pulley is mounted) is not aligned correctly.

If you mount the straps without checking it, you will have problems with the straps after a very short period of time ... .what makes you doubt the device, but in the end is simply a trifle with a big effect.

Due to the incorrectly aligned drive, the belts run off one side or simply out of the belt guide. In addition, a reasonable tension of all belts is not possible. You will notice again and again, that one belt taut than the other ... .. which of course should not be so!

Therefore, another tip: Even if it drives up the cost ... .Please always change all belts at the same time with a V-belt drive. Otherwise, you will never get the V-belt tension so that all the straps are almost equally tensioned and therefore also run smoothly.

If the upper disc does not touch the entire surface, loosen the 4 screws on the gearbox and the two screws on the retaining plate (behind the V-belt pulley). Then adjust the unit (gear block with shaft and K-disc) by depressing or lifting the gear block so that the V-belt pulley is exactly vertical.

Normally, this is then fine and you can stretch the belt through the belt tensioning screw (under the pipe joint between the gearbox and K-disk) so far that you max. can push in half a thumb strength. Then tighten all screws again.

In rare cases it happens that the upper pulley sits too far forward or backward on the shaft. You will notice this if the disc sits exactly vertically but can not reach the board or the spirit level.

Then you should loosen the upper V-belt pulley and fix it again, which is a separate topic in my blog.
